Home of covered bridges and quaint country markets, Manheim, PA is a treasure of small-town America.
There, master woodworker Rob Homan hand carves heirloom-quality instruments and apparatus including spoons, smaller furniture and more. It’s a skill he picked up from his father and cultivated from an early age; today, he still finds fulfillment in the delicate, often painstaking process, and in each detail of his immaculately realized creations.
To Rob, nature is an intrinsic part of the creative process that reveals something new and exciting with each and every piece. Using only naturally fallen lumber, he allows the inherent grain structure of the wood to influence what the piece will ultimately become. Spoons are a particular favorite given his passion for cooking and lend themselves to any variety of unique shapes and sizes. He takes pride in knowing his work will gain new character and meaning with age, becoming an inextricable part of the meals and stories that are passed down from generation to generation.
